After a concept car and many months of teasing and testing, Peugeot revealed today the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered or PSE.

Kinja'd!!!

Available in sedan and wagon flavour. I just looove the SW.

Kinja'd!!!

And it still sport Peugeot’s radical take on interior design.

Kinja'd!!!

And like any current Peugeot, it sports those mean fangs.

As for specs. It is a 4WD plug-in hybrid with a combined output of 360 hp and 520 Nm of torque. Power comes from a 1.6 turbo petrol engine good for 200 hp and from two 110 hp electric engines (one in the 8-speed auto gearbox and the other on the rear axle).

Peugeot says the car will do 0-62 mph in 5.2 seconds and 50-75 mph (80 - 120 kph) in 3 seconds. Full electric range is 42 km WLTP (26 miles).

I am not sure a manual with this kind of 4WD hybrid would be easy to make without being jerky or with annoying r eactions.

I t seems like it’s still accelerating with the electric engines while the gearbox is changing gears so while the gearbox doesn’t seem to be as fast as a DCT it might not be an issue for the performances while being able to be smoother on the ICE/electric motors transitions .

There are some people who think that a manual automatically makes a car better. Those people are generally referred to as “idiots”.

Such a handsome car. It was before it was the sporty version. Green highlights are cool.

Guess I’m an idiot haha, but I do agree for hybrid/electric vehicles

That is real pretty. Sounds fun too. AWD plug in hybrids are so hot right now.

Also that’s 420hp... Nice

I prefer manuals, but I wouldn’t say they’re necessarily better....I just drastically enjoy them more because I enjoy being part of that experience of driving, as lame and cli ché as that sounds :)

Depends on the car really. In a modern quick commuter/family car that is partially electric, like this Peugeot, an automatic makes sense. In a sports car though, no third pedal = no sale. In a sports car I’m not interested in ‘better’, I’m interested in ‘fun’. This car however is not a sports car.

I own multiple Peugeots and live on the right side of the pond to own this car.
